Common use cases for ReadWrite Digital Analytics
A flexible platform for current and future education data analytics needs
As a result of its design, ReadWrite Digital Analytics platform provides a foundation for managing student performance and educational organization compliance data for an unlimited number of use cases. Because any of Analytics data views can be easily customized to fit many specific data analysis requirements and then shared, the applications of ReadWrite Digital Analytics to education data needs are nearly limitless.
To be useful, student performance analytics must do more than just present numbers. The data should be rich enough to be delivered within a context that can tell a story. The stories your data tells may be about a specific student or a student cohort. For example, you may be interested to know how your English Learners (EL) perform in reading relative to their peers. What if your data could convey 9th grade EL student reading outperforms peers after 3 years of EL services, but only when they attend school at least 96% of the time? This is the kind of rich story Analytics conveys by allowing the combination of many data categories to provide deep insight with context. While any end-user can work with Analytics to tell the stories important to them, there are some typical use cases ReadWrite Digital Analytics may be used to meet your organizational data needs:
- Data-Driven Instruction. Using data to inform instructional practice for any student or student group at any level. For example, you may wish to improve elementary math performance based on performance at the student, classroom, school, grade, or district level. You can use Analytics to understand the relative performance of students at all those levels and make pedagogical adjustments as a result of what you find.
- Early Warning System. ReadWrite Digital Analytics includes Early Warning System (EWS) data views configured to your organizational data and performance thresholds. In these views, key data points are aggregated to help educators determine which students are “at-risk” or “off-track” for their expected pacing and educational attainment. EWS data are often used to determine which students may be in need of additional instructional supports through programs like Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Accountability. Are interim or benchmark assessment and class instruction meeting the requirements of your State’s course requirements? How about for certain student groups? The All Scores data view in ReadWrite Digital Analytics can provide the kind of insight needed by your Accountability teams to ensure alignment of assessment to State standards.
- School Improvement. Because ReadWrite Digital Analytics calculates Peer Comparison data views on a daily basis, you always know where your students stand relative to their peers across a school or district. Of course, the next question is how to improve performance on critical measures? Analytics can help you see things like how leading indicators such as attendance and behavior correlate to lagging indicators of performance like grades and test scores.
- Accreditation. Do your State accreditation requirements include a certain level of student performance on state tests? How about attendance rates? Do these requirements also track certain student populations by things like race or student disability? Because every data view in Analytics has every data element, you can use the system to understand overall and student subgroup attainment on key accreditation metrics now and get a sense of future attainment.
- Student Growth. Are your students growing or maintaining their growth trajectory? With all data views providing a standard 3 years of performance data, you can perform longitudinal analysis of student progress.
- Competency-based Learning. Analytics combines all of your student performance data whether they are traditional assessment results, student portfolios, or other demonstrations of mastery. As a result, you will see evidence of learning from multiple angles and will be armed with the right information to draw conclusions about levels of competency even without summative assessment.
- ESSA Compliance. Because every ReadWrite Digital Analytics data view includes all student demographic data, you can easily evaluate student performance by any student group across a school or district. This provides administrators the up-to-date insight they need to make decisions about resource allocation before it’s too late.
